A new stamped slab, or an overlay on the old one?
Beverly Hills' owner-occupied homes carry a median value of $156,700 (Census Bureau, 2020–2024 survey estimates). Whatever the budget, the first question is whether the existing slab can carry an overlay.
Stamped overlays over existing slabs are typically 1/4 to 3/4 inch thick. One may not be viable where the old concrete has large cracks, significant spalling or severe settlement, and then a new stamped pour is the fix.
Leftover release is trouble later. The American Society of Concrete Contractors counts excess release among the biggest sealer problems it hears of, says at least three-quarters of any powdered release must be removed before sealing, and suggests diluting muriatic acid at 15 to 20 parts water per part of acid for the wash.
For a plain slab, see concrete patios in Beverly Hills; a sound slab that only needs a fresh face may suit resurfacing and sealing. The full Beverly Hills list has the other jobs.

Pick the pattern and colors
Choose a pattern, a base color and an accent color, and settle whether it will be a new pour or an overlay.
Color, release and stamp
Release keeps the mats from sticking. Once the concrete hardens, about 70% to 80% of it is washed away, and the rest stays pressed in as the antique accent.
Wash and seal
The leftover release is rinsed off, a curing compound or cure-and-seal goes on, and the final sealer follows once the concrete has cured.

Stamped finish questions
How soon is the release washed off new stamped concrete?
A day at the least. Curing compound can't go on until the leftover release has been washed off, which is a minimum of one day after stamping and sometimes two or three. Brickform's stamping guide usually washes it off the next day and puts the final sealer on at about 28 days.
Do stamped patterns drain more slowly than a smooth slab?
Yes. Textured and stamped surfaces shed water more slowly, because it collects in the low spots of the pattern, so the slab's fall matters more.
How much deposit do stamped concrete contractors ask for?
Typically 10% to 33%, a national figure for 2026.
