Accent color, detailing and the sealer coats
Accent color, the secondary shade, should usually be 5% to 30% of what the eye sees; past 40%, one published guide warns, sealer adhesion can suffer. Once the mats lift, a hand chisel, roller or texture skin cleans displaced paste from the pattern, and control joints are still cut at least a quarter of the slab's depth.
The last sealer coat waits several weeks, after a light cleaning, as most manufacturers advise; outdoors, two thin acrylic coats are usual, renewed every 2 to 5 years as traffic, climate and the previous sealer dictate.
A worn but sound slab can take a stamped overlay ¼ to ¾ inch thick instead of a new pour. Stamping adds cost, so weigh it against the house: the Census Bureau's 2020–2024 survey puts the city's median owner-occupied home value at $180,200 (±$25,627). Stamped patios are on the patio page, sound slabs needing only a new top on resurfacing in Bruceville-Eddy, and the rest on the town's service list.

Stain, release and hardener questions
Can you acid stain concrete?
Yes. Most acid stains are a mix of water, hydrochloric acid and acid-soluble metallic salts that soak into the surface and react with the hydrated lime in the concrete, leaving translucent color with no film on top, drawn mostly from tans, browns, terra cottas and soft blue-greens. Brickform warns its acid stain won't hide existing discoloration, blemishes or cracks.
What is the difference between powdered and liquid release?
Both keep the mats from sticking. Powdered release is the traditional choice among stamping contractors because it comes in more colors; liquid release evaporates quickly and needs little cleanup.
Is color hardener put down in one pass?
No. Brickform's data sheet calls for two applications: about 75–80% of the hardener first, then the remaining 20–25%.
