Bruceville, Eddy and the county line

The Texas State Historical Association places Bruceville-Eddy on Interstate Highway 35, eighteen miles southwest of Waco in southern McLennan County. Both halves began as railroad stations in 1882. Bruceville carries the name of Lucien N. Bruce, who gave the land for its station. Eddy was called Marvin until the Katy Railroad arrived that year, and the post office opened then was named in honor of Everett B. Eddy. In the mid-1970s, by the association's account, the two formed a joint city government.

The Census Bureau estimates 1,483 residents for July 1, 2025, up from 1,435 in its April 2020 base. The city's boundary extends into Falls County, yet the Bureau counts every one of those residents in the McLennan County part.

Building work inside the city falls under the City of Bruceville-Eddy's own inspection program, which it runs under the building codes it has adopted, so permit questions go to the City itself. The slab page below says more about the City's inspector and its permit form.

Lorena, also on Interstate 35, thirteen miles southwest of Waco, names "All concrete work such as drives, sidewalks, porches, patios, etc." on its permit list, and our Lorena page covers that city's rules. Moody, at the junction of State Highway 317 and Farm Road 107, asks residents to file a building permit application for remodels, solar panels and electrical, plumbing or roofing work; see concrete work in Moody for jobs there.
