A home-rule city on State Highway 77

The Texas State Historical Association places Robinson six miles south of Waco, on State Highway 77, in central McLennan County. Brothers John and Levi Robinson homesteaded the area in the early 1850s, and in 1856 they surveyed 171 acres and laid out forty-two four-acre lots for other homesteaders.

The town incorporated in 1955, and by 1958 its site took in twelve square miles adjacent to Waco. The Census Bureau's 2025 Gazetteer now counts 30.629 square miles of land and 0.328 square miles of water inside the city.

The association describes the eastern section of McLennan County as "generally low rolling to flat, with black, waxy soils made up of clay and sand loams." What that means for a driveway, a slab or a sunken walk is set out on each service page below.

Robinson is a home-rule city, and its own Permits and Inspections Department works from 111 W Lyndale: the office is open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and inspections run 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Its permit page covers pools, decks, outdoor kitchens, fences and retaining walls; the patio and parking-lot pages below explain the rules nearest to concrete work.

Peplow Park, on 7.696 acres along Peplow Drive just east of U.S. Highway 77, came out of a 2010 park-use agreement between the City and Robinson ISD, and its development began with a $75,000 Texas Parks & Wildlife matching grant secured in 2009.

Two other cities south and southwest of Waco keep permit offices of their own. Hewitt's Building Department sits at 103 N Hewitt Drive (see concrete work in Hewitt), and Beverly Hills, a town Waco grew to surround, handles permits at its City Hall on Memorial Drive (Beverly Hills concrete services).
